In response to persistent concerns raised by the residents of Bundung regarding water shortage issues, significant strides have been taken to address this critical matter. The morning of September 8, 2023, marked a pivotal moment as authorities convened to engage with key stakeholders from the Bundung community.
The esteemed panel consisted of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, the Managing Director of the National Water and Electricity Company (NAWEC), and the Director of the Water Division at NAWEC. They gathered at the Bundung Lower Basic School to hold discussions on the ongoing water challenges faced by the residents.
The meeting commenced with a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation by the authorities. The presentation focused on a range of strategies and initiatives aimed at enhancing water availability within the Bundung community and its environs. These initiatives represent a concerted effort to alleviate the water shortage issue, which has posed a significant challenge to the residents for some time.
However, this gathering was more than just a formal presentation. It evolved into a productive dialogue between the authorities and the community’s stakeholders. The exchange of ideas and concerns showcased a genuine willingness to collaborate in finding sustainable solutions to the pressing water scarcity problem.
Sulayman Jammeh, the National Assembly Member for the Bundungka Kunda Constituency, graciously hosted the delegation. He expressed his gratitude, saying, “I want to use this opportunity to thank the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Petroleum and Energy, the Managing Director of NAWEC, and the Director of the Water Division at NAWEC for engaging in a constructive discussion with us regarding the way forward. This initiative is commendable, and I am hopeful that these plans will be translated into tangible actions that benefit our community.”
As the authorities and Bundung community join forces to tackle the water shortage challenge, this collaborative effort represents a significant step toward resolving a pressing issue affecting the lives of the residents.
