Essau, North Bank Region— October 1, 2024: Rahman FC has issued a formal apology to the Essau Youth Sports Association (EYSA) in response to violent and disruptive incidents that took place during their match against Quarreh on September 28, 2024. In a letter signed by the club’s Public Relations Officer, Modou Drammeh, Rahman FC expressed regret over the actions of some spectators that led to physical altercations, verbal abuse, and damage to property.
The match, part of the ongoing Essau Nawettan League, escalated beyond control when tensions among the crowd boiled over, despite efforts by the club to maintain order. According to the letter, Rahman FC acknowledged the lapses in security that may have contributed to the violence and expressed full responsibility for the safety concerns posed by the incident.
“We deeply regret the actions of some of the spectators, which resulted in violence, verbal abuse, and property damage,” the letter read. The club reiterated its firm stance against any form of violence or disrespect toward match officials, players, or fans, emphasizing its commitment to upholding the values of sportsmanship and fair play.
In response to the events, Rahman FC promised a thorough internal review and pledged full cooperation with any investigations conducted by the association. The club also noted its intent to implement stricter measures to prevent future incidents.
“We assure you that this does not reflect the ethos of Rahman FC, and we will work to reinforce discipline and mutual respect among our supporters,” the letter continued.
The Essau Youth Sports Association has yet to issue a formal statement regarding potential sanctions or penalties. However, Rahman FC humbly requested that their efforts to control the situation be taken into consideration, acknowledging that high-tension matches can sometimes provoke extreme reactions from fans.
The club’s management expressed its commitment to restoring calm and rebuilding trust within the community. “We express our deepest regrets for the inconvenience and disturbance caused,” the letter concludes.
